Welcome to Hunter Presbyterian Church

Our hope is that in this place,
those who are disturbed will find comfort,
and those who have grown too comfortable
       will find challenge.

The members of Hunter Presbyterian Church affirm their faith in God and realize that they must be open to the call of God in Jesus Christ. As the Holy Spirit calls us to action, we must recognize the cost of discipleship and be willing to sacrifice our personal goals. Loving each other, we will work, study and worship together, using our diverse gifts and talents, within the framework of the Presbyterian Church (USA), to serve the larger community and each other.

Greetings From Our Pastor

Welcome to the online presence of Hunter Presbyterian Church.  I hope you’ll find our website helpful.  Of course, as much as it allows us to reach out beyond our walls, it cannot substitute for visiting Hunter in person.  So I invite you to join us for worship, and I look forward to meeting you.

At Hunter, we strive to offer a warm, visitor-friendly experience.  Our building is wheelchair-accessible; our community is open to all, including our communion table; and we nurture an atmosphere in which every person feels invited to use his or her gifts and abilities to make a positive difference in the world.

We are blessed with diversity.  Our members come from many walks of life and represent all ages.  Children and youth participate in the life of the church and have a variety of opportunities to grow together in friendship and faith.  Young adults to seniors come together regularly for study and reflection, conversation and support, fellowship and fun.

We are a liturgical congregation, which means that we recognize the power and beauty of time-honored patterns of worship, and these inform our acts of prayer, proclamation, remembering, and offering.  At the same time, we infuse our worship with music and language that speaks to today’s world.

We have two Sunday morning services—a casual service with weekly communion at 8:45, followed by a traditional service at 11:00.  Between worship times we offer Sunday school for all ages at 9:30, followed by coffee hour at 10:30.  We also hold a supper every Wednesday evening at 6:00, followed by a program for adults that varies in content week to week.  Childcare is provided.

Hunter Presbyterian Church is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  We are enriched and inspired by our Presbyterian heritage and theological roots.  But most of all, we understand ourselves as Christians:  redeemed by the grace of God that we have come to know in Jesus Christ and renewed by our ongoing commitment to discipleship and learning.

Thanks for your interest in our community.  If you have any questions, please call us at 277-5126 or send e-mail to info@hunterpresbyterian.org.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Together we serve,

Jason Santalucia, pastor

Sunday School Volunteers

Do you enjoy spending time with children, but don't feel that you have the time to prepare a lesson plan?  Are you 18 years old or over?  Good news!  The CE Committee is seeking volunteers to help as adult assistants for Sunday School and Worship in Practice.  All you have to do is submit your name to Ashley Burdick at ashley.burdick@hunterpresbyterian.org, or 277-5126.  We ask that you volunteer at least 2 to 4 times per year, however, if you are uncertain if this is right for you, we will gladly accept a one-time volunteer too!  Please give us a try...you'll find that the children of Hunter love the company of their Hunter Family members.

Finally...Worship In Practice is Back!!

Worship in Practice kicks off on Sunday, September 11.  This is an optional worship practicum for children in third grade through middle school.  Children worship in their families in the sanctuary at 11 a.m., and then dismiss to the WIP room with Daisy Rhau after the Time with Young Disciples.  We will begin with a segment called "Noticing" and then continue to follow a similar schedule as last year.
 "Noticing"

Focus on noticing and receiving God's presence.

"Naming"

"Negotiating"

Welcome to Sunday School

Sunday School kicks off at 9:30 am on September 11 in the third floor Cinema Room. Daisy Rhau will be leading the Sunday School classes this year for ages 5 through 12. We will be taking a lectionary-based approach, which is how Pastor Jason plans the readings and sermons for worship. We hope there will be several opportunities for you to discuss scripture topics with your children! They will also have a ton of fun!! Hope to see you there!!
