This month, the Spiritual Life Committee and I ask you to consider joining our new Pastoral Care Team. The mission of this team is to carry on a ministry of compassion by extending the fellowship and care of this congregation to our homebound members through periodic visits, phone calls, and/or cards.
As your pastor, I’ll provide team members with training and support to help you develop your visitation skills. We’ll meet every month or so to discuss issues that come up in the course of your visits and to review the pastoral needs of the congregation. It’s my hope that you’ll find our time together both rewarding and empowering.
Over the next few weeks, I invite you to prayerfully consider whether you feel called to this particular ministry. Ask yourself: Do I enjoy being around people? Is my life of faith enriched by connecting with others? Do I consider myself a good listener? Do I find myself already caring for fellow church members? If so, this may be a wonderful opportunity for you.
All are welcome to join the Pastoral Care Team. Listen for announcements during worship over the next few weeks. If you’d like to know more, or if you know that you’re interested, please email or call me at the church office. I hope to hear from you, and I look forward to working together to build this important ministry.
