"What has happened to the Presbyterian Church since 1950?" will be the topic for the Theology Seminar beginning on September 26, 2010. Why has overall membership declined? Is it our liberalism and our stance on women, racial integration, and gay rights? Is it our theology? This seminar will argue that the primary reasons have been sociological, not theological or social. Society has changed drastically and the churches have not kept up. We will begin by looking at the mainline churches as wholes and then focus on the Presbyterians, especially on Transylvania Presbytery and on Hunter Church itself, which, since 1970, has declined from a membership of more than 500 persons. Remember our starting date is September 26. All are welcome to join this adult Sunday school class!

The Alternatives Class
