Confirmation Class

Hunter’s Confirmation class for middle-schoolers & up is designed to bridge the gaps between personal doubt, budding faith, and normal youthful questions about authority. Among other things, this class will cover Presbyterian catechism, church history, basic assumptions of Christianity, and guidance on creating their individual statements of faith. Classes start 9:30 a.m. on April 18 and run for 8 weeks, excluding May 16.

Because these classes are so important to the confirmation process, we ask that students commit to attending every class, with a minimum of 7 out of the 8 classes.

Note to Kids - Confirmation classes give you a chance to:
• Make the church a place where you can belong,
• Explore biblical truths,
• Fashion your own faith statement, and
• Figure out what it means to be a member of a church community.
This is YOUR time to ask questions, to challenge yourselves and your faith!

This class depends on student interaction.  Therefore we require a minimum of 3 students in order to proceed.  If enrollment is less than 3, the class will be postponed.

Two Interfaith Youth Basketball Opportunities

Interfaith Youth Basketball Opportunity
Marc Kline, from Temple Adath Israel, and Mark Johnson, from Central Baptist Church, have decided to sponsor an Interfaith Youth Basketball Tournament for fun and fund-raising. They would like to bring youth together from different faiths and raise money for Haitian earthquake relief.
Once they have all the youth signed-up, they will randomly and fairly choose teams by skill and gender with each individual rating him/herself as an experienced, medium, or beginning player. Each team could not play more than three boys at one time, and the purpose would be for FUN first and basketball second (as well as a worthwhile
way to raise some money).
The proposed date for the event is Sunday, April 18 from 3—8 pm with an organizational meeting Tuesday, March 9 at 5:30. The tournament will be at Central Baptist Church and the meeting location is to be determined.  Of course, volunteers will be needed to help be present and run the event itself, but it should be a great activity for youth in having fun, raising money, and building interfaith relationships.
Contact Mark Johnson (mark@lexcentral.com) if you can represent Hunter at the organizational meeting or to sign-up for the tournament!
